The latest numbers are heartbreaking—there are now 650,000 stray dogs roaming the streets of Puerto Rico, a U.S. commonwealth the size of Connecticut.
The island is in the midst of a massive stray dog crisis, caused by years of infrequent spaying and neutering, a lack of affordable veterinary care, and natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes that have displaced thousands of people, leaving countless animals abandoned.
These poor dogs face unimaginable hardships every day—starvation, disease like Parvo and distemper, being hit by cars, and even poisoned. This is why TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) is so crucial. While we rescue and send as many dogs as possible to the mainland, the number of strays keeps increasing. We can’t keep up with this heartbreaking cycle unless we tackle it at the source—
by spaying and neutering.
An unspayed female and her mate, along with all their puppies, can lead to 67,000 dogs being born in just 6 years. But with 44 spay/neuter appointments on our upcoming November Rescue Mission, we have the power to prevent 2,948,000 dogs from being born onto the streets!
We need your help to make this happen. Your donation will go directly toward funding these vital appointments and stopping this crisis before it gets worse. Every dollar makes a difference.
🌟 Donate now to be part of the solution! 🌟
Let’s work together to break the cycle and give Puerto Rico’s stray dogs a fighting chance.
